Job Summary
Tesla is looking for a Robotics vision engineer with automation background who is passionate about the latest technologies including AI and has a strong desire to work with automation controls development team (CAE – Core Automation Engineering). The candidate will have the opportunity to take part in innovative projects which will be directly connected with advanced manufacturing at Tesla factories. CAE team creates elegant automation solutions to build and assemble Tesla products in all manufacturing areas of the factory (Body in White, Paint, Casting, General Assembly, Drive unit, Battery workshops). The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional team and work close to Tesla Advanced production lines and applied latest technologies to deliver the next generation robot vision, sensing and perception into advanced robotics stations.
Responsibilities
· Implementing and developing algorithms for object recognition and localization
· Keep track, test and evaluate new technologies in the field of robot vision, sensing and perception
· Leverage technical expertise to evaluate and improve AI with vision in robotics systems
· Provide thought leadership centered around AI and Vision technology adoption Ｏn robotics hardware
· Develop, propose, and conduct research in the field of Vision and AI
· Work Ｏn topics in robotics-relevant fields, such as computer vision, deep learning, machine learning, planning, and multi-robot systems
Comply with company rules and regulations, strictly follow work instructions, actively identify safety hazards, promptly report safety hazards and accidents, propose safety improvement suggestions, and continuously improve to create a safe and healthy working environment.
Requirements
· MSc/ MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or equivalent degree
· 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
· Experience in robotics-relevant fields, such as vision, deep learning, machine learning, and multi-robot systems
· Experience with implementing 3D Depth estimation algorithms and familiar with lidar technology
· Practical knowledge of simulation environments for AI and Robots
· Experience developing machine learning solutions with modern toolchains, e.g. TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn
· Experience with robotics software and frameworks, e.g. ROS/2
· Experience with Vision framework like OpenCV, PCL, open3d and Vision software like Halcon
· Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C and python
· Workable oral & written English.
· Hands-on experience building, fixing and troubleshooting things using common hand tools and diagnostic tools
